OUR MISSION
& VISION

Our mission is to educate the minds and inspire the hearts of young people through a content-rich, classical education in the liberal arts and sciences, with instruction in the principles of moral character and civic virtue.

Lake Country Classical Academy addresses the real need for tuition-free, high quality, teacher-led education, K-12. There is a desire among many families in Lake Country for a teacher-led, classical education experience. We believe that all students should have access to this option, regardless of their zip code, socioeconomic status, primary language or race. Classical Education upholds a standard of excellence and has proven itself over the course of time.

We believe LCCA’s high standards and research-based curriculum will provide students with a content-rich education that will challenge them to excel not only in learning, but also in character development. At LCCA, high academic achievement, personal discipline, ethics, and responsibility will be consistently reinforced through the study of subjects in the classical tradition. Students will graduate from LCCA as highly literate and ethical citizens who are well-prepared to advance into any life endeavor.

AFFILIATION WITH HILLSDALE COLLEGE

LCCA is an affiliate school of the Barney Charter School Initiative, an outreach of Hillsdale College. The BCSI team will be assisting LCCA in creating and implementing challenging, engaging academic programs, as well as providing teacher training that will serve as the foundation for a liberal and civic education. The BCSI learning model has already seen substantial success throughout the United States, with more than 20 affiliate schools currently serving more than 12,000 students across the country. LCCA is honored to be the first BCSI affiliate school in Wisconsin.

OUR CURRICULUM

The BCSI will provide the architecture for LCCA’s academic program. The BCSI classical curriculum emphasizes the core disciplines of math, science, history, and language arts, including phonics and writing, with significant attention to music, art, and foreign language. Each of these disciplines is taught with an emphasis on the history and traditions of American citizens as the inheritors of Western civilization.

In K-8, the basis of this curriculum is the Core Knowledge Sequence, prepared by the Core Knowledge Foundation and used widely across the United States for well-over twenty years. Following BCSI recommendations, LCCA will supplement the Core Knowledge Sequence with an intensive phonics program that uses the Orton-Gillingham research on language and cognition that has been developed by Access Literacy, LLC. LCCA will supplement the Core Knowledge Sequence in mathematics by using the Singapore Math curriculum from grades K-7. LCCA will also include instruction in Latin, beginning on a formal basis in 6th grade, preceded by the teaching of Latin and Greek roots in grades 4 and 5. The Well-Ordered Language curriculum will be the basis for formal grammar instruction in the upper elementary grades. In high school, LCCA will follow the BCSI course sequence. This includes four years of history, literature, math, and science; three years of foreign language; one year of both literature and government; and a semester each of economics and moral philosophy.

OUR CAMPUS

LCCA will be leasing a vacant school located at the Abundant Life Apostolic Church at 995 S. Sawyer Road in Oconomowoc. At the corner of Hwy 18 and Sawyer Road, LCCA is conveniently located a couple miles south of I-94. With approximately 40,000 square feet of classroom space, secure entrances, a cafeteria, two playgrounds and a beautiful gym, we will be able to house all kindergarten – 9th grade students in one building with room to grow.

We need to have all these classrooms fully furnished prior to opening in Sept. 2021; however, we won’t begin to receive state funding until after we open our doors. If you’re able to help provide the needed seed money to get LCCA up and running, please consider making a donation today! Thank you in advance for your generosity!
