We are a licensed user of the Hillsdale K-12 curriculum, which provides the architecture for LCCA’s academic program that emphasizes a foundation in liberal and civic education and the core disciplines of math, science, history, and language arts, including phonics and writing, with attention to music, art, and foreign language.

Job Description – Substitute Teacher
LCCA is building a growing team of regular substitute teachers that are knowledgeable about our students, curriculum, procedures, and teachers. This is a part-time, variable hour position and is not eligible for benefits. The work schedule is typically 8 hours for a full day or 4 hours for a half-day and may be at either of our campuses in Okauchee and Oconomowoc.

Applicants must either hold a current substitute or regular teaching license from the WI DPI or be able and willing to obtain a DPI Three-Year-Short-Term Substitute License. The license requires an Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited institution and appropriate training from LCCA.

Major Function
This is a classroom leadership position responsible for guided instruction and learning while following written plans for the day’s program of study. The substitute teacher ensures that the classroom and learning environment is welcoming, safe, and respectful. The substitute teacher collaborates with other teachers and administrators and communicates with parents and guardians when necessary. The substitute teacher assesses student learning and provides feedback to the regular classroom teacher.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a fully accredited college or university.
  • Possession of, or eligibility for, a Wisconsin teaching certificate for the level and subject area to be taught.
  • Preferred Wisconsin certification in the elementary education and/or the middle grades.
  • Integrated curriculum (Grades 5-9) licenses.

Job Description – Special Education Paraprofessional

Lake Country Classical Academy is a public (tuition-free) charter school serving students in K-12th grade.  

Classical education is a “getting back to the basics” approach by providing a strong liberal arts foundation — a general knowledge in the four core subjects of literature, history, science and mathematics, as well as attention to performance in art and music. It requires a traditional learning environment using teacher-led instruction and ongoing teacher-student engagement. In addition, classical education provides further depth by teaching students the timeless skills of logic, critical thinking, and self-expression. 

Major Function

We have a need for a Special Education Paraprofessional. This is a full-time position with a 10-month work schedule and standard hours of 7:45 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, and serves students at our Oconomowoc location. 

In this position, your primary role will be to support the provision of special education instructional and supportive activities pursuant to an individualized education program (IEP) under the direct supervision of a licensed teacher. Responsibilities also include supporting the lesson plan of the licensed teacher, providing technical assistance to the teacher, and helping with general classroom management. Work with students may include lifting, feeding, self-help, and other services. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Demonstrated competency in providing a variety of general special education support within a K through 12 structure. 
  • Experience collecting and recording accurate data. 
  • Ability to meet WI DPI requirements to obtain a Special Education Program Aide License. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • WI Special Education Program Aide license (LCCA will assist in obtaining this license if needed) OR Valid WI teacher license.

CLASSIFICATION
Non-Exempt/Hourly – 10 Month Position

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Upper School Nurse promotes the health and safety of students and staff by providing professional nursing services in accordance with state and district policies. The nurse supports student learning by addressing health barriers, managing chronic conditions, and responding to acute medical needs during the school day.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct Student Care

  • Assess and manage student illness, injuries, and health concerns
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to physician orders
  • Provide emergency care and coordinate responses for serious injuries or medical conditions
  • Maintain infection control standards and manage communicable disease reporting

Health Management & Case Coordination

  • Develop and implement individualized health care plans (IHPs) for students with chronic or complex medical needs
  • Monitor immunization compliance and notify families of any deficiencies
  • Support students with medical accommodations, including 504 plans and IEPs, in collaboration with staff and families
  • Participate in Student Support Team (SST) meetings as needed

Recordkeeping & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate and confidential student health records in compliance with state and FERPA regulations
  • Document clinic visits, medication administration, and parent communication
  • Prepare required health reports for local and state authorities

Health Education & Promotion

  • Provide health-related education and resources to students, families, and staff
  • Promote wellness initiatives, hygiene practices, and preventative care
  • Serve as a resource on public health issues and guidance

Collaboration & Communication

  • Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and medical providers
  • Participate in school safety planning, including emergency preparedness and crisis response
  • Train staff on basic health procedures, including EpiPen use and seizure protocols

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in Wisconsin
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience (pediatric or school setting preferred)

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • School Nurse Certification (or ability to obtain within 1 year)
  • Knowledge of child development, chronic disease management, and public health protocols

This is a salaried, exempt position with a 10-month work schedule and base standard hours of 7:30 am to 4:00 pm daily.

Major Function
Instructional position responsible for the educational leadership of students in a group or class in an innovative charter school. The educational leader will understand, demonstrate the use of, and implement the school’s curriculum, student instruction, and assessment to maximize educational achievement for all students, and collaborate to ensure a working and learning climate for all students that is safe, secure, and respectful. Strategy implementation to reach the multiple intelligences of students through creative lessons is required.

Responsible for directly contributing to the effectiveness the Special Education program for students on caseload, including developing and implementing individualized educational plans (IEPs); providing Special Education services to students in general education classrooms and pullout settings; consulting and collaborating with teachers and administrators to ensure IEPs are implemented and students needs are met; teaches by creating a flexible program and an environment favorable to learning and personal growth; by encouraging students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to obtain a good foundation for continuous growth and development; by providing students with experiences which integrate the affective, cognitive and psychomotor dimensions of learning; by establishing effective rapport with students and their parents; and by assisting students in developing a positive self-image and healthy social/interaction skills.

Teachers’ essential duties and responsibilities are as follows:
• Participates in the development and implementation of the school’s program of instruction.
• Participates as a member of the team planning and/or conducting initial evaluations and eligibility determinations for students suspected of having a disability.
• Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals. Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, assignments, units, and projects in harmony with curriculum goals and communicates the objectives to students.
• Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for assuring high student outcomes including the primary use of classical instructional materials, as well as computers/other technological equipment in a secondary/support role.
• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
• Plans and implements a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students and complies with federal requirements, Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction standards, the Lake Country Classical Academy (LCCA) goals and objectives (including curriculum), and individual student IEPs.
• Participates in all IEP team meetings.
• Provides special education services in accordance with students’ IEPs.

MANAGING STUDENT BEHAVIOR
• Establishes and maintains standards of appropriate student behavior and discipline to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom and assist in its maintenance campus wide.
• Provides and maintains a safe and supervised environment in the classroom and on the school grounds.
• Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
• Maintains current knowledge of, and expertise in, all applicable federal and state laws and regulations regarding the proper definition/meaning and application of seclusion, restraint, and least restrictive procedures and their use.

EVALUATING STUDENT PROGRESS
• Evaluates the learning progress of students on a regular basis, including reporting progress on IEP goals as required.
• Prescribes effective learning programs and initiates referrals to appropriate personnel when concerns arise.
• Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
• Administers group standardized tests in accordance with the school testing program.

PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATIONS
• Establishes and maintain open lines of communication with students and parents concerning students’ academic, social and behavioral progress.
• Cooperates with professional staff and support personnel in assessing and helping students with health, attitude, learning and behavioral problems.
• Communicate and cooperate with other professional staff in academic and personal growth areas.
• Attends and/or conducts staff meetings and participates on committees within area of responsibility.
