Lake Country Classical Academy (LCCA) is an independent public charter school and is honored to be the first Hillsdale College Member School in Wisconsin. The Hillsdale K-12 curriculum provides the architecture for LCCA’s academic program that emphasizes a foundation in liberal and civic education and the core disciplines of math, science, history, and language arts, including phonics and writing, with attention to music, art, and foreign language.

Job Title: Director of Financial Operations
Reports to: Head Principal

Position Summary

The Director of Financial Operations is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the school, ensuring the integrity of accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting systems. This role plays a key part in strategic planning and decision-making by providing leadership in financial matters and ensuring compliance with applicable laws, standards, and school policies. The Director of Financial Operations works closely with the Head of School, Board of Directors, and other administrative staff to ensure the financial health and sustainability of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Lead and manage the school’s financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting of monthly financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, budget vs. actual, and cash flow reports
  • Develop and manage the annual operating budget in coordination with school leadership and department heads, ensuring alignment with strategic plan of the school
  • Monitor budget-to-actual results and provide variance analysis and forecasts
  • Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts in alignment with school’s financial goals of revenue and expenditures
  • Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and applicable public and non-profit school policies
  • Oversee the management of grants, state funding, and other financial resources and the allocations across the school
  • Compliance with state accountability requirements, legal/corporate upkeep, books and records maintenance, and management of equipment/furniture/property
  • Oversee student billing and collections processes
  • Coordinate with Advancement Department to ensure accurate recording of donations and grants

Policy and Procedure Development

  • Implement and update financial policies and procedures ensuring accountability and alignment with school strategic plan and goals
  • Provide policy and procedures on procurement process, contracts, and management of vendors in support of school operations

Payroll & Benefits Oversight

  • Supervise payroll processing and coordinate with HR to ensure accuracy of employee compensation and benefits
  • Ensure compliance with COBRA
  • Ensure ERISA compliance with 403(b) retirement plan
  • Management of open enrollment of health benefits
  • Ensure timely remittance of payroll taxes and retirement plan contribution
  • Management of annual WISE Staff data report to WI DPI

Audit, Tax, and Regulatory Compliance

  • Coordinate the annual financial audit and preparation of Form 990 and other tax filings
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including those governing public and nonprofit educational institutions
  • Process annual workers compensation audit
  • Ensure compliance of WI Charter Organization and raffle licenses

Cash Management & Banking

  • Monitor cash flow and manage banking relationships
  • Ensure investment and endowment opportunities in coordination with Principal, Board of Directors, and external advisors

Internal Controls & Risk Management

  • Develop and enforce internal control policies and procedures
  • Ensure proper documentation of financial transactions
  • Support risk management efforts and insurance coverage reviews

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required; CPA or MBA strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting or financial management, preferably within a school district and/or a nonprofit t school setting
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and fund accounting
  • Proficiency in financial management software and systems preferably Skyward
  • Knowledge of fundraising software, preferably Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT, or similar systems) and Microsoft Office Excel and Word
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders

Job Description – Director of Advancement and Donor Relations

Lake Country Classical Academy in Oconomowoc, an independent, public, charter (2R) school, has a Director of Advancement and Donor Relations position available. The ideal candidate will provide leadership in securing new support and increasing current support from constituents of Lake Country Classical Academy. This is a full-tim, exempt position working Monday through Friday.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Supports the advancement of Lake Country Classical Academy’s mission to train the minds and improve the hearts of young people through a content-rich, classical education in the liberal arts and sciences, with instruction in the principles of moral character and civic virtue.

Supports the institutional aim to expand and strengthen LCCA’s donor rapport and relations in the annual fund, annual Liberty Gala, capital campaign initiatives, and overall stewardship. The successful candidate is a dynamic relationship builder adept at building new connections on behalf of Lake Country Classical Academy. Must establish a donor-centered stewardship program based on individuals and organizations to aid in enhancing the support of significant constituent markets throughout the LCCA community and beyond.

  • Creates a comprehensive strategic advancement plan in partnership with the principal, aligning with LCCA’s strategic plan and priorities.
  • Oversees all LCCA’s advancement efforts, including, but not limited to, annual fund, major gifts, planned giving, special events, future alumni relations, donor stewardship, data management, and gift processing.
  • Executes an annual development plan with forecasting goals to increase overall support and stewardship efforts to ensure donor relations.
  • Collaborates with Board of Directors, administrators, teachers, and staff in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual donors.
  • Works with multiple constituencies, including the Board of Directors, committee members, faculty and staff, future alumni, current and past parents, foundations, corporations, and members of the community at large to align donor goals/interests with priorities of the school.
  • Identifies and cultivates foundation and corporate support of LCCA.
  • Manages a portfolio of future donors through solicitation, cultivation, and stewardship calls to current donors and new prospects.
  • Builds relationships among prospective donors, future alumni, parents, and volunteers to support programs and priorities.
  • Manages the fundraising software, Blackbaud Raisers Edge NXT (CRM), by entering constituents, donors, and producing appropriate receipts and donor letters.
  • Leads in planning, designing, and/or supervising the publication of printed materials relating to fundraising.
  • Manages the financial advancement budget, ensuring resources are efficiently utilized.
  • Represents the Advancement Office at various board and school functions.
  • Performs other duties as required

Requisite Experience & Competencies:

  • Strategic and goal-oriented mindset.
  • Minimum five years of experience in fundraising, relationship management, and/or building and sustaining long-term revenue generating broad-based relationships.
  • Ability to create and execute the goals of a comprehensive fundraising plan.
  • A self-starter and data-driven decision maker who leverages data to inform strategy and measure success.
  • Adept and experienced in direct cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major donors and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Prior experience working with capital campaigns, alumni, and volunteer engagement, or in a university, independent school setting, and/or a civic non-profit.
  • Experience creating and managing budgets for strong fiscal management.
  • Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, organizational, and critical thinking skills with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of fundraising best practices and techniques with a focus on capital campaigns, annual campaigns, and major gifts. Capital campaign experience preferred.

Job Description – Substitute Teacher
LCCA is building a growing team of regular substitute teachers that are knowledgeable about our students, curriculum, procedures, and teachers. This is a part-time, variable hour position and is not eligible for benefits. The work schedule is typically 8 hours for a full day or 4 hours for a half-day and may be at either of our campuses in Okauchee and Oconomowoc.

Applicants must either hold a current substitute or regular teaching license from the WI DPI or be able and willing to obtain a DPI Three-Year-Short-Term Substitute License. The license requires an Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited institution and appropriate training from LCCA.
Major Function
This is a classroom leadership position responsible for guided instruction and learning while following written plans for the day’s program of study. The substitute teacher ensures that the classroom and learning environment is welcoming, safe, and respectful. The substitute teacher collaborates with other teachers and administrators and communicates with parents and guardians when necessary. The substitute teacher assesses student learning and provides feedback to the regular classroom teacher.

Job Description – High School Special Education Teacher  

This is a salaried, exempt position with a 10-month work schedule and base standard hours of 7:30 am to 4:00 pm daily.

Major Function
Instructional position responsible for the educational leadership of students in a group or class in an innovative charter school. The educational leader will understand, demonstrate the use of, and implement the school’s curriculum, student instruction, and assessment to maximize educational achievement for all students, and collaborate to ensure a working and learning climate for all students that is safe, secure, and respectful. Strategy implementation to reach the multiple intelligences of students through creative lessons is required.

Responsible for directly contributing to the effectiveness the Special Education program for students on caseload, including developing and implementing individualized educational plans (IEPs); providing Special Education services to students in general education classrooms and pullout settings; consulting and collaborating with teachers and administrators to ensure IEPs are implemented and students needs are met; teaches by creating a flexible program and an environment favorable to learning and personal growth; by encouraging students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to obtain a good foundation for continuous growth and development; by providing students with experiences which integrate the affective, cognitive and psychomotor dimensions of learning; by establishing effective rapport with students and their parents; and by assisting students in developing a positive self-image and healthy social/interaction skills.

Teachers’ essential duties and responsibilities are as follows:
• Participates in the development and implementation of the school’s program of instruction.
• Participates as a member of the team planning and/or conducting initial evaluations and eligibility determinations for students suspected of having a disability.
• Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals. Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, assignments, units, and projects in harmony with curriculum goals and communicates the objectives to students.
• Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for assuring high student outcomes including the primary use of classical instructional materials, as well as computers/other technological equipment in a secondary/support role.
• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
• Plans and implements a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students and complies with federal requirements, Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction standards, the Lake Country Classical Academy (LCCA) goals and objectives (including curriculum), and individual student IEPs.
• Participates in all IEP team meetings.
• Provides special education services in accordance with students’ IEPs.

MANAGING STUDENT BEHAVIOR
• Establishes and maintains standards of appropriate student behavior and discipline to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom and assist in its maintenance campus wide.
• Provides and maintains a safe and supervised environment in the classroom and on the school grounds.
• Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
• Maintains current knowledge of, and expertise in, all applicable federal and state laws and regulations regarding the proper definition/meaning and application of seclusion, restraint, and least restrictive procedures and their use.

EVALUATING STUDENT PROGRESS
• Evaluates the learning progress of students on a regular basis, including reporting progress on IEP goals as required.
• Prescribes effective learning programs and initiates referrals to appropriate personnel when concerns arise.
• Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
• Administers group standardized tests in accordance with the school testing program.

PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATIONS
• Establishes and maintain open lines of communication with students and parents concerning students’ academic, social and behavioral progress.
• Cooperates with professional staff and support personnel in assessing and helping students with health, attitude, learning and behavioral problems.
• Communicate and cooperate with other professional staff in academic and personal growth areas.
• Attends and/or conducts staff meetings and participates on committees within area of responsibility.
